FAQ's:
 What is cloud Computing?
According to the Cloud Security Alliance, cloud computing describes the use of a collection of services, applications, information and infrastructure comprised of pools of compute, network, information and storage resources. These components can be rapidly orchestrated, provisioned, implemented and decommissioned, and scaled up or down; providing for an on-demand utility-like model of allocation and consumption. Cloud computing service delivery models include: Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). InstaCompute is an IaaS offering.

 What is Infrastructure-as-a-service( IaaS)?
IaaS is a cloud computing deployment model which enables provisioning of processing, storage, networks, and other fundamental computing resources over the Internet. While the cloud service provider manages the underlying cloud infrastructure, the end-user has control over operating systems, storage, and deployed applications along with limited control of select networking components (e.g., firewalls).

How does IaaS differ from traditional dedicated servers?
Cloud computing with IaaS will not make traditional hosting obsolete. For static, continuous or predictable load operations such as static hosted applications, corporate email, PBX systems, core back-office operations (ERP, CRM, SFA, HRM) and core databases, a traditional managed hosting environment may still be the most economical solution. For test/dev environments, dynamic web applications and short-term needs that require the ability to scale servers up or down, IaaS is ideal. Plus, there are no contracts or setup fees with IaaS – you pay only for the services you use.

Is cloud computing same as virtualized Data Center?
No. Virtualization is simply one of many technologies used to create an IaaS offering. Cloud computing takes virtualization to the next level by enabling the end-user to grow or shrink capacity as needed, providing pay-as-you-go pricing (metering) and letting users provision new servers and storage in minutes

 What is Instacompute?
InstaCompute is a flexible, scalable, pay-per-use, cloud-based computing service that gives you near-instant access to processing power, storage and bandwidth that you can scale up or down as your computing needs demand. Brought to you by global leader Tata Communications, InstaCompute enables you to meet core initiatives such as lowering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), achieving business continuity and rapidly bringing new services to market.

How do I pay for Instacompute?
You pay for only the services you use, billed on an hourly basis. Usage requires a one-hour minimum, and partial hours are prorated. Please note: if you create a Virtual Machine (VM), charges will be incurred as long as that VM instance is running, whether you are using it or not. You can stop and restart your VM instances at any time.

Do you charge any additional Taxes?

Taxes as applicable would be levied.

How do I access my cloud servers once my account has been created?
Your cloud computing servers are available anytime, by logging into the InstaCompute online management portal. There you will find all the tools you need to manage your account and your servers, including links to our support center. You can also configure your cloud servers to use common remote access technologies such as Remote Desktop connection for Windows or VNC for Linux distributions

Which operating Systems are supported by Instacompute?
We support several versions of Windows and Linux OS including Fedora, Ubuntu and CentOS.

In what increments is storage available to be purchased?
Storage is allocated by the gigabyte (GB), in multiples of 1GB.

 Is bandwidth usage limited?
No. Bandwidth is measured using a data transfer method and is not capped.

Where are your Data Centers located?
Instacompute is hosted from our Data Center at Hyderabad and is connected into Tata Communications’ wholly owned-and-operated IP backbone and MPLS network – which is one of the world’s largest, reaching everywhere you do business
